Joel Comm’s Closing Critique and Observations
Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Joel warns Thor about his communication style. He tells Thor, “…that tongue, you have got to get it under control.” He states that Thor will be more persuasive and he sees a lot of promise in Thor.

Joel Comm in the Judgement RoomHe then tells Christine he knows she has to be strong and has a fire in her. He also sees the same fire in Carly. Joel especially sees a “ball of fire” in Debbie. But because her leadership did not bring the group together, there was continued uncertainty in her group even during their presentation, and a lack of enthusiasm on her team for their topic, she is targeted for elimination.

Between Christine and Carly, Joel feels Christine would continue bringing cohesiveness to the team and then targets Carly for elimination..

Nico, Carly, & Charles in the Judgment RoomBut this is not the end of the road. Joel explains that in the internet world, when a new website is created, it does not get immediately indexed but is placed in a holding period. He continues to tell Debbie Ducic and Carly Taylor that they will be put into a Sandbox, a holding area.

They can particpate in learning from the next guest speaker but not participate in any of the challenges. He further explains the “Sandbox” is a waiting period until such a time that they will be given the opportunity to redeem themselves.

With a thank you for their hard work, Joel then dismisses the group from the COMMplex.

Contestants Tagged for Elimination
Friday, August 31st, 2007

Joel starts with Debbie and asks her to pinpoint two members she feels should go. Debbie targets herself for being the leader who let everyone down and Carly for her nervousness.

Charles Trippy in the Judgement RoomCarly targets herself for the way she presented herself and for “messing up the team.”

Charles starts off with being surprised that “everyone was so cool” and wished that he had been able to maintain the mentality of “screw them.” He continues to say though that “they are all nice people” and then targets himself for not speaking up at points he could have. Joel is not convinced that Charles believes he deserves to be eliminated and thinks Charles is “taking the bullet” to be “a nice guy.”

Christine Schaap in the Judgement RoomChristine bases her decision on the task and names Carly for her unassertiveness and Debbie for not showing good leadership.

Nico first chooses Carly and says she was a “non factor.” His second choice is Thor Schrock for his pushiness while working with the group. He ends his comments though commending Thor for his excellent presentation skills for the group.Nico Pisano in the Judgement Room

Thor targets Debbie for not being a leader and Carly because she did not bring much to the challenge. Thor continues his explanations by defending himself and says “it is difficult in a pressure situation to not step on toes or count on the other person understanding that you don’t want to step on their toes, that you are just trying to get this done.”

Judgement Room
Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Joel Comm starts the meeting in the judgement room apologizing he will be eliminating 2 contestants. He explains that because he receives many JV requests he needs to make sure he picks the right JV partner.

Team Bulls-Eye in the Judgement RoomJoel asks the Team what is the shortest distance between two points. They all answer “a straight line.” He then goes on to say that the team had difficulty at times in concentrating and keeping focus on their task.

Mark Joyner comments to Christine about her reservedness and defensiveness when faced with something contrary to her opinion. Cresta compliments Christine on her focus.

Christine defends herself by saying that not being the Team Leader made it frustrating for her not to be able to express her idea as a possibility for the team to use.

Joel Comm and Mark Joyner comment on Thor’s strong personality. Mark critiques Thor’s performance during the challenge and felt Thor stepped up as a leader. However, Mark advises that though Debbie Ducic seemed overwhelmed, Thor could still “step up” but be more respectful of letting Debbie lead as she was the original Team Leader. Cresta felt the judges could have seen more coming from Debbie and didn’t think the leadership in this challenge was her strength.

Debbie Ducic in the Judgement RoomJoel Comm says, “Debbie, Do you see, I see?” He continues to describe Debbie’s website, her auditions, her attitude, her accomplishments as all “Gutzy” but questions why her leadership fell apart.

Debbie explains her leadership style is different and admits she could have “gotten it more together.” Debbie tells Joel she feels she can still step it up if given another chance.

Mark talks about Nico and appreciates his gentle guidance of his team in trying to get them to focus. Mark also addresses the group and comments that because this is a competition, each of them needs to display more “gamesmanship,” each needs to “crank it up and show more hustle.”

Cresta Pillsbury in the Judgement RoomCresta likes the fact that Nico was focused through the challenge and went to Mark Joyner to utilize his expertise. She observed Nico asked Mark the questions that he needed answered while the rest of the group continued to debated on what they would be discussing. Joel also compliments Nico on the leadership qualities Nico exhibited and tells Nico to continue “ratcheting it up.”

Joel then addresses Carly. He is surprised he did not see “a ball of fire” in her performance. Cresta felt Carly had appeared completely inexperienced but does realize that Carly does have an indepth marketing background.

Carly admits she was terrified about speaking during the presentation. Because of her nervousness, the group had agreed it was alright for her to read her portion of the presentation right from her paper. Cresta comments that this might have hurt the group.

Joel Comm in the Judgement RoomJoel turns his attention to Charles. He notes that Charles came alive after hearing Mark Joyner. He comments that he overheard Charles say “Wow, I’ve got to implement this stuff on my site when I get back. This is good stuff.” He feels Charles is beginning to see more what the Internet Marketing world is about. Mark advises Charles that his success can be his worst enemy. Cresta wants to know what Charles was thinking when his team was deliberating.

Charles expresses his attempt to listen to others ideas even though he had another impression of what he wanted and what he felt would appeal to people.

Mark Joyner on Simpleology
Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

The first law of Simpleology: The Law of Straight Lines - the shortest path to where we are and where we want to be in our life is a straight line.

Every extra action a person takes that is not focused on the task at hand takes them down a non straight path and makes their efforts inefficient. By being able to simplify and see the steps a person needs to act on to get a target done, the more they can accomplish in less time.

Mark Joyner on daily target praxis (DTP)One way to do this can be done using free Simpleology software and organizing our day with a Daily Target Praxis; more information can be found at www.The DailySystem.com. Having a “DTP,” will help us filter out time-wasters or not-so-urgent tasks, from really important tasks; thereby helping us focus on the tasks that will help us get closer to our major targets.

Contestants’ Thoughts..

Steve Schuitt really liked Mark Joyner’s ability to breaking down and simplify what you want to accomplish. He can see how this would help you work much faster.

Thor Schrock speaks about Laura Martin’s negative morning attitude when she wakes and thinks it will be interesting to see how she will perform in the competition.

Jason Henderson appreciates hearing Mark Joyner live after seeing many of his peers apply Simpleology to their tasks to get more work done in less time.
