Joel Comm starts the meeting in the judgement room apologizing he will be eliminating 2 contestants. He explains that because he receives many JV requests he needs to make sure he picks the right JV partner.
Joel asks the Team what is the shortest distance between two points. They all answer “a straight line.” He then goes on to say that the team had difficulty at times in concentrating and keeping focus on their task.
Mark Joyner comments to Christine about her reservedness and defensiveness when faced with something contrary to her opinion. Cresta compliments Christine on her focus.
Christine defends herself by saying that not being the Team Leader made it frustrating for her not to be able to express her idea as a possibility for the team to use.
Joel Comm and Mark Joyner comment on Thor’s strong personality. Mark critiques Thor’s performance during the challenge and felt Thor stepped up as a leader. However, Mark advises that though Debbie Ducic seemed overwhelmed, Thor could still “step up” but be more respectful of letting Debbie lead as she was the original Team Leader. Cresta felt the judges could have seen more coming from Debbie and didn’t think the leadership in this challenge was her strength.
Joel Comm says, “Debbie, Do you see, I see?” He continues to describe Debbie’s website, her auditions, her attitude, her accomplishments as all “Gutzy” but questions why her leadership fell apart.
Debbie explains her leadership style is different and admits she could have “gotten it more together.” Debbie tells Joel she feels she can still step it up if given another chance.
Mark talks about Nico and appreciates his gentle guidance of his team in trying to get them to focus. Mark also addresses the group and comments that because this is a competition, each of them needs to display more “gamesmanship,” each needs to “crank it up and show more hustle.”
Cresta likes the fact that Nico was focused through the challenge and went to Mark Joyner to utilize his expertise. She observed Nico asked Mark the questions that he needed answered while the rest of the group continued to debated on what they would be discussing. Joel also compliments Nico on the leadership qualities Nico exhibited and tells Nico to continue “ratcheting it up.”
Joel then addresses Carly. He is surprised he did not see “a ball of fire” in her performance. Cresta felt Carly had appeared completely inexperienced but does realize that Carly does have an indepth marketing background.
Carly admits she was terrified about speaking during the presentation. Because of her nervousness, the group had agreed it was alright for her to read her portion of the presentation right from her paper. Cresta comments that this might have hurt the group.
Joel turns his attention to Charles. He notes that Charles came alive after hearing Mark Joyner. He comments that he overheard Charles say “Wow, I’ve got to implement this stuff on my site when I get back. This is good stuff.” He feels Charles is beginning to see more what the Internet Marketing world is about. Mark advises Charles that his success can be his worst enemy. Cresta wants to know what Charles was thinking when his team was deliberating.
Charles expresses his attempt to listen to others ideas even though he had another impression of what he wanted and what he felt would appeal to people.
